Exceptional Performance Series starts with DW's US-built, handmade HVX hard rock North American maple shells. This HVX grain orientation provides wood plies horizontally, vertically, and diagonally for a satisfying and deep fundamental. Shells are roasted in pressure molds (2600 PSI at 200°F) then quickly Cool Tempered to crystallize the glue, maximizing roundness, strength, and resonance. All Performance Series toms arrive completed with pinpoint 45-degree back-cut bearing edges to improve attack and develop a head response.

DW's decreased size Quarter Turret lugs. These allow a vigorously sleeker, more modern look that many DW artists prefer.
