The Yamaha CFX is a nine-foot full-sized concert grand piano identified by a broad palette of tonal colours and the capacity to produce the most subtle expressive distinctions. The CFX can predict over the sound of a symphony orchestra, even in very large halls. The crowning brilliance of the Yamaha line, today's CFX concert grand includes numerous cultures in performance, appearance and security, elevating this revered instrument to an even higher standard of excellence.
The Flagship of the CF series, the CFX full concert grand piano describes the pinnacle of Yamaha's conclusion of piano crafting. Beautifully performed and with an excellent tone across the complete dynamic range, the CFX has the power to project its sound to the distant reaches of any concert hall.
The hammers have a big impact on the tonal purity and character and also help define how the sound projects and comforts. Yamaha uses the safest possible materials and treatments for excellent performance notwithstanding possible variations in temperature and moisture.
The pianos of the CF Series share an elegant silhouette which reflects the beauty and cleanliness of their sound. Additional ornamentation has been excreted in favour of a smooth modern pattern throughout. The pianos look as good as they sound.
The shape, thickness and even construction process of the back beam and posts were changed and the one-piece inner/outer rim is further made using a recently developed process. The result is a deep rich sound with the excellent tonal projection that can satisfy the concert hall.
Only the most carefully chosen European spruce is managed for the soundboard. A new design for attaching the ribs to the soundboard serves free it from stress, combining rich overtones to the sound for a broad range of significant tonal colours.
The frames are separately hand moulded and sand cast to improve the durability and endurance of the pianos. This provides to the exceptional tonal character and comforts of the series. The CF6 and CF4 emphasise an open pin block pattern which enhances both the attack and sustain of the notes.
The wood of the CF Series is softened numerous times, constantly changing the grade of the sandpaper. And the finish is implemented one layer at a time with accurate buffing in between. The result is a rich black presentation of unusual beauty.
The current style of the pedal lyre matches the innocence of the legs, yet is more durable and stronger than on any previous models.
To check reflected glare in the eyes of instrumental musicians the CFX has a matte finish on the lid. The CF6 and CF4 have a bright finish but all models are possible with both finish by specific order.
The white keys are of a recently developed "Ivorite" material that both aspects and feels like natural ivory for a suitable touch. The black keys are formed of carefully chosen high-grade ebony.
